Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CandleLight ("the App") handles information when you use the App.
The App is designed to let you write and keep personal gratitude entries on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and your gratitude entries and optional name are not uploaded to our servers.
1. Information You Provide
When you use the App, you may enter gratitude entries and other information directly into the App.
Name
You may optionally enter a first name so the App can greet you. A name is not required to use the App.
This name is stored only on your device. It is not sent to our servers or to Firebase Analytics.
You can change or remove your name at any time in Settings.
Gratitude entries
Your gratitude entries are stored locally on your device.
The text of your gratitude entries is not sent to our servers or to Firebase Analytics by the App.
You can edit or delete your gratitude entries at any time within the App.
If you delete the App, locally stored gratitude entries may be deleted from your device. Data stored by third-party services, such as analytics data that has already been collected, is not necessarily deleted when you remove the App.
2. Analytics Information
The App uses Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how users interact with the App and to improve its functionality and user experience.
Analytics information may include information such as:
- app events and interactions;
- screens and sections viewed;
- selected tabs and navigation actions;
- onboarding interactions;
- the language selected in the App;
- whether a gratitude entry is an additional entry;
- the number of characters in a gratitude entry;
- the number of entries associated with certain views;
- information about optional in-app purchase interactions, such as the product identifier;
- a randomly generated identifier used to associate analytics events with the same user or installation.
The App does not send the actual text of your gratitude entries, or any name you enter, to Firebase Analytics.
The App uses a randomly generated UUID as an analytics user identifier. This identifier does not contain your name, email address, phone number, or other directly identifying information.
Firebase Analytics may also automatically collect certain technical and usage information as part of its normal operation.
For more information about how Google processes data through Firebase, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy .
3. How We Use Information
We use analytics information to:
- understand how the App is used;
- identify which features are used or ignored;
- improve the App's functionality and user experience;
- understand the performance of different parts of the App;
- understand interactions with optional features, including support purchases.
We do not use the text of your gratitude entries, or any name you enter, for analytics or advertising.
4. In-App Purchases
The App may offer optional in-app purchases that allow you to support the developer, for example by purchasing a small "coffee" tip.
Payments are processed through Apple's App Store and its In-App Purchase system.
We do not collect or store your credit card, debit card, or other payment information.
The App may send analytics events related to the start, completion, cancellation, or failure of a purchase. These events may include the relevant product identifier.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not require you to provide:
- your email address;
- your phone number;
- your physical address;
- an account or login;
- your location;
- the text of your gratitude entries to our servers.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your gratitude entries for advertising.
6. Third-Party Services
Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics is provided by Google and is used to collect analytics information about how the App is used.
Firebase may process information in accordance with Google's applicable privacy practices.
You can learn more about Google's privacy practices in Google's Privacy Policy .
7. Data Storage and Retention
Name
If you choose to enter a name, it is stored locally on your device until you change or remove it in Settings, or until the relevant local application data is removed.
We do not have access to your locally stored name.
Gratitude entries
Your gratitude entries are stored locally on your device and remain there until you edit or delete them, or until the relevant local application data is removed.
We do not have access to your locally stored gratitude entries.
Analytics data
Analytics data is processed and retained by Firebase/Google according to their applicable policies and retention settings.
Because analytics data is processed by a third-party service, deleting the App does not necessarily delete analytics data that was previously collected.
8. Your Choices
You can:
- create, edit, and delete your gratitude entries within the App;
- change or remove your name in Settings;
- stop using the App at any time;
- delete the App from your device.
The App does not currently provide an account system or a mechanism for synchronizing gratitude entries between devices.
If you have questions about analytics data associated with the App, you may contact us using the support contact below.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not specifically directed at children.
We do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other directly identifying personal information from children. If a child enters a name in the App, that name stays on the device and is not sent to us.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review the situation.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App.
Gratitude entries and any optional name are stored locally on your device rather than on our servers.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our data practices, or applicable requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
